1. 可持续发展追踪、评估及评级系统(STARS)

   Mount Union is Assessing its current level of sustainability and is a pilot campus for the AASHE明星 程序.

   STARS是一个自愿的, self-reporting framework for gauging relative progress toward sustainability for colleges and universities. STARS旨在:

   • Provide a guide for advancing sustainability in all sectors of higher education, from governance and operations to academics 和社区 engagement.
   • Enable meaningful comparisons over time and across institutions by establishing a common standard of measurement for sustainability in higher education.

2. 第二天性

   The Mount Union大学’s President was among the first 500 college and university presidents to the sign the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) in 2008. The ACUPCC was a high-visibility effort to address global climate disruption undertaken by a network of colleges and universities that have made institutional commitments to eliminate net greenhouse gas emissions from specified campus operations, and to promote the 研究 and educational efforts of higher education to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s climate.

   Mount Union has accomplished the following steps of the commitment:

   The Carbon Commitment is focused on reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality as soon as possible.  The Mount Union大学 has 承诺 to achieving Carbon Neutrality in the year 2046, 哪一年是我们机构成立200周年. 

3. LEED

   Gartner Welcome Center is a LEED Silver building – the first in the City of Alliance.  LEED (领导 in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building rating system.  绿色建筑属性包括一个地热热泵, 在HVAC系统中零使用CFC制冷剂, 自动照明控制, 大量使用含有大量回收成分的材料, 窗户的玻璃更高, 低流量夹具, 高效的机电系统. UMU承诺建造所有符合LEED标准的新建筑.

4. 树校园

   美国树校园 程序 recognizes college and university campuses that effectively manage their campus trees, develop connectivity with the community beyond campus borders to foster 健康的, urban forests and strive to engage their student population utilizing service learning opportunities centered on campus, 和社区, 林业工作.
